Ten long weeks of the CP Project and it ends by walking the plank. This project at first started very slow, it felt like the Celebration of Learning was going to be a few knots away. But in the second or third week it really set sail. My essential question was: How did pirates affect the past? I answered this question successfully, but if I was to further my research I would look at different parts of the world that have been hit hard with piracy. I focused on the pirates in the New World. One of the greatest success I had in this project was getting notes I found lots of great sources that helped me answer my essential question. The challenge was trying to put this all together in one final product to show my learning. The paper took me the longest to finish because I have trouble thoroughly analyzing quotes and texts. Something I would do differently for my project is to plan ahead of time and make a ten week schedule to show what I need to do. This project taught me a lot about piracy and showed me that media and books puts a silly twist on pirates. I showed in my paper the true nature of pirates in the past, there are many more things that I didn't mention that will also interest you. I learned to be more analytical while researching, thinking about the what if's and imagining what could have happened also analyzing how pirates thought and worked. The CP Project has truly allowed me to grow as a student. What is a pirates favorite letter? ARRR. Why couldn't Tommy get into the pirate movie? It was rated ARRR!

One of the most helpful sources I've had this project is the article on the North Carolina pirates called "The Carolina Pirates and Colonial Commerce" By Shirley C. Hughson. This showed me how pirates affected economy and settlements set up by other countries. Causing disarray for merchants and business men. This week I finished my project and had it edited, now I have to make corrections for my paper and finish my visual in time for the Celebration of Learning.

I finished my paper last week and I am getting it checked. My visual is coming along great but it's still not done. One of the sources I used for my paper is article about a brief history of piracy called: "A Brief History of Piracy" it informed me about how piracy originated and about the Golden Age of Piracy, one of the more significant events in piracy. This was just some background information for my paper. Another one of my sources was an article called "Rationality, Pirates and the Law: A Retrospective" this gave me information on how pirates affected the law. Both of these sources helped me progress in my CP project.

This week I worked on my paper, I've finished my introduction and two body paragraphs. I hope to finish the third body paragraph and the conclusion, also to have my paper looked at and revise it. Then this week I will finish my visual for the celebration of learning. One of my sources is an article called "Jean Lafitte: King of Barataria" its about a famous American hero who helped defend New Orleans in the War of 1812. He was a pirate and this ties with my essential question because he affected the war and America. I've learned a lot from this source and it has helped further my research.

Hey, for my CP project this week I have started writing the research paper part of my final product. I am putting into effect the notes I took on these scurvy seadogs a couple weeks ago. I've picked 3 main ideas that pirates effected, economy, slaves, and wars. Some of the things I put in my paper may surprise you, unless you are an expert on pirates. Out.

I've decided for my final project I will make a poster visual with some fun facts. I've made great progress on this but I ran out of ocean blue paint working on it. Also for my final project I will have a mini lesson that I put together. Enjoy your break!

This week I worked on my visual it's coming along nicely. I am making a poster board with a background of a pirate ship on the seas. I am going to add some information to it, like fun facts on pirates. Next week I'm going to start my paper and finish up my presentation. Well peace.
